DAY 01

Hydraulic Engineering, Pre-Incan Cities and Viceregal Art

We begin our tour with a pick-up from your hotel between 8:30 and 9:00 Hrs. Once the group is complete, we will head south of Cusco to explore a route steeped in history. Our first stop will be at the Tipón Water Temple, where you will be amazed by a sophisticated system of canals and agricultural terraces that demonstrate the advanced hydraulic engineering of the Incas.
After exploring Tipón, we will continue with a visit to the Pikillaqta archaeological site. This vast network of stone structures was an important city and administrative center of the Wari culture, one of the most important and influential civilizations before the Incas.
After this impressive archaeological visit, we will head to the Church of Saint Peter the Apostle in the picturesque town of Andahuaylillas. This church is considered the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas," and its architecture and interior house one of the most stunning and beautiful examples of viceregal religious art, filled with murals and gold leaf.

After immersing ourselves in history, art and tradition, we will board our tourist transport to return comfortably to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 14:30 Hrs.

The tour lasts approximately 6 hours. This tour operates exclusively in the morning, starting with pick-up at your hotel between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, and returning to the city of Cusco around 2:30 PM.

2. Do I have to buy the tickets myself?

Yes, entrance fees are not included in the base package. You will need the Cusco Tourist Ticket (General or Partial) to access Tipón and Pikillaqta. Additionally, entrance to the Church of Andahuaylillas has a separate fee, payable in cash at the entrance.

3. Does the tour include lunch or any snacks?

No, the service does not include meals. The tour finishes around 2:30 PM, and you'll be back in Cusco in time for a late lunch. We recommend having a good breakfast before you leave and bringing some light snacks and water for the journey.

4. Is it a physically demanding route due to the altitude?

This is a hike of light to moderate physical exertion, consisting of short walks at the sites visited. We will visit areas of moderate elevation (around 3,400 meters above sea level). We recommend being well-rested and walking at a leisurely pace.

5. What clothes and personal items should I bring?

It is essential to bring your original passport or national identity card. We suggest dressing in layers to adapt to the morning chill and the midday sun, wearing shoes with good grip for uneven surfaces, and not forgetting your sun protection (sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen), as well as some local currency.

6. How will we get around between the different attractions?

All transfers are made aboard comfortable tourist transport. The vehicle will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning, transport you safely along the South Valley route connecting Tipón, Pikillaqta, and Andahuaylillas, and finally bring you back to the center of Cusco.
